Mayor’s Tree Lighting Holiday Show | Park Central Square

Springfield officially welcomes the holiday season at the Mayor’s Tree Lighting Holiday Show on Park Central Square! This beloved downtown tradition kicks off the Festival of Lights with live performances, Santa and Mrs. Claus, holiday treats and the big countdown to light the towering tree on the square.

This year is extra special because the Downtown Springfield Association and the City of Springfield are teaming up for one big holiday kickoff day. Start with holiday shopping at the Merry Market, catch the Springfield Christmas Parade at 3 p.m. (this year’s theme is Home for the Holidays), then stay downtown for the tree lighting in the evening.

The Mayor’s Tree Lighting is Saturday, November 21 at 6 p.m. on Park Central Square in downtown Springfield, and it is FREE to attend. Roads around the square close for the event, so plan extra time for parking. Find the full schedule on It’s All Downtown.
