Fall in the Ozarks means amber trees, cooler mornings, and coffee menus worth driving for. There is something about this time of year that makes even a short drive between towns feel like an adventure, especially when there is a warm cup waiting at the end of it. We mapped out our favorite coffee trail this season, north to south, so you can sip your way through it one town at a time.
Springfield
Architect Coffee Co. — 1604 E. Republic Road This Springfield spot feels like it was built for fall, with patio string lights and a warm, easygoing atmosphere that makes you want to slow down. Order the Spiced Apple Cider, made with brown sugar syrup and finished with star anise for a little extra depth, or go the latte route with their Pumpkin Spice Latte, sweetened with organic dark maple syrup instead of the usual syrup pump.
El Cafecito — 2462 S. Campbell Ave. Known around town for its Latin inspired menu, El Cafecito brings something a little different to the fall lineup. The Pumpkin Spice Horchata blends Brazilian espresso with homemade pumpkin syrup and lechera for a rich, sweetened finish, while the Cajeta Apple Pie Latte layers Mexican caramel and apple flavoring under a topping of oat milk and pie crumbles.
Ozark
The Workshop at Finley Farms — 804 Finley Farms Lane Set inside a beautifully restored 1930s garage, this coffee shop leans all the way into the season, and the drink menu proves it. The Pumpkin Butternut Latte is the one everyone talks about, but the Cookie Butter Cider Steamer, a blend of steamed apple cider, cookie butter, and warm spices, tastes like apple pie in a mug and might just steal the show.
Urban Grounds — 5557 N. 21st St. Part coffee shop, part plant shop, Urban Grounds is the kind of place you wander into for a latte and leave with a new houseplant too. The space is bright and full of greenery, with locally roasted coffee and specialty botanical drinks that feel a little more thoughtful than your average order. Their full fall menu is releasing on September 6, so this one is worth a repeat visit.
Expresso Branson — Branson, MO Do not let the small drive through window fool you. Expresso Branson turns out handcrafted lattes that change with the seasons, and fall means a Caramel Apple Latte that regulars order on repeat. Service is quick without ever feeling rushed, and the baristas have a way of remembering your order after just one visit.
Branson
Lumiere Café & Coffee — 114 N. Commercial St. Tucked inside the antique shop 417 Vintage, this one feels like a little treasure hunt before your coffee even arrives. Wander the vintage finds on your way to the counter, then order the fan favorite Dirty Maple Chai, a cozy, spiced sip that pairs perfectly with the sweet treats sitting in the case up front.
Hollister
Vintage Paris — Hollister, MO If the Ozarks had a European side, this would be it. Vintage Paris is full of mismatched chairs, local art, and a playlist that makes you want to linger, with in house roasted coffee and gluten free pastries that keep regulars coming back. New this season is the Harvest Moon, a matcha drink with a touch of pumpkin, blackberry, and maple spice that the baristas are especially proud of.
